Zofia Sobolewska Ursic is an artist and designer exploring the tensions between material, craft and cultural memory through sculptural, limited-edition objects.

As a craft material, straw may seem today a pure archaism, yet through its historical and social meanings it provokes a narrative.
In my projects I use straw within an aesthetic that, despite the folk origins of the grain, developed in the rich bourgeois France. In this form, straw becomes a carrier upon which two antagonistic cultures are inscribed.
